The GO app is the companion app of GO — the Jesus Youth International Conference 2026 (20–25 October 2026, Castel Gandolfo, Rome). It is operated by Jesus Youth International ("we", "us"), the organiser of the conference. We are the controller responsible for the personal data processed in the app.
Account data — your email address and password, managed through Google Firebase Authentication, plus your name and a profile photo if you choose to add one. You may also browse the app as a guest: guest sign-in is anonymous and stores no personal data.
Registration details — participants are entered by the conference team (there is no self-registration in the app). Your account is linked to your registration by your verified email address. The registration holds:
Conference profile — where applicable your vocation, your accommodation (building and room), an emergency contact recorded by the team, your role in the app (pilgrim, volunteer or organiser), your small-group ("cluster") and volunteer-group memberships, and a link to your speaker profile if you are a speaker. The app does not collect or display any payment or financial data.
Seat reservations — the parallel sessions you reserve a seat for, per participant.
Check-in records — when a volunteer scans your QR code, we store your user ID, the time, and which volunteer scanned it.
Push notifications — a Firebase Cloud Messaging device token is stored on your profile when you sign in on a device, so the conference team can send you announcements.
Group chat — the Community, Cluster and Volunteers rooms. Messages you post (text and optional images) are stored together with your display name and profile photo and are visible to the members of that room. You can delete your own messages at any time; organisers can remove any message.
Live Q&A — questions you ask during a session are stored without your name; only an internal user ID (for ownership) and the "me too" count are kept. Speakers and volunteers see the questions during the session.
Session feedback — answers you give to the short form after a session are stored without your name; only an internal user ID is kept, so that you can change your own answers while feedback is open. Speakers, volunteers and organisers see the answers, without your name.
Forms — when the conference team asks you to fill in a form on the app's Home screen, your answers are stored with your account, and organisers see them together with your name and email address.
Prayer Bank ("Intercede" tab) — the prayers, Masses and hours of adoration you offer are counted in the app's own database, the same one as the rest of your app data. The community totals contain no personal data. Your personal tally is stored under your internal user ID only and carries no name; guests contribute to the community totals only.
Feedback — messages or feedback you submit through the app.
Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap (OpenStreetMap data); like any web server, it sees your IP address when tiles are fetched. The app does not use Google Maps. Walking directions are handed off to the map app on your device.
We use your data to run the conference: to let you sign in, show you the programme and your accommodation, manage seat reservations and check-in, deliver announcements, run the group chats and the live Q&A, collect session feedback and the forms the team asks you to fill in, and respond to your feedback. The legal bases are your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (given at registration), the performance of your participation in the event under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, and our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the app under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
We do not sell your data. To provide the app we use the following service providers, which act as data processors on our behalf:
The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. We disclose data to other third parties only where required by law.
Our service providers may process data outside the European Union. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists and for the period needed to run GO 2026 and meet our legal obligations, after which it is deleted. You can delete your account and your data yourself at any time, immediately, from the Profile tab in the app — see our Data Deletion page.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw any consent at any time (without affecting processing carried out beforehand). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact jygermany@jesusyouth.org.
Family registrations may include minors. Data about children is provided and consented to by a parent or guardian, including a separate media consent for children.
Photographs and recordings taken at the event are used for official Jesus Youth communications only, subject to the media consent given at registration. To withdraw your consent, contact jygermany@jesusyouth.org.
Access to personal data is restricted: sensitive operations are enforced server-side, and administrative access is limited to authorised organisers.
We may update this policy from time to time; the date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
